Claiming Greatness

Dare to Soar ...

“We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?”

My Philosophy

We are eternal beings, come into this life to learn and to master our physical existence. We were born with unique personalities and packages of abilities to develop and challenges to overcome. We are free to choose and responsible for the consequences of those choices. As humans, we desire to be happy and have joy. To obtain this, a person needs connection, purpose and continual growth. However, joy does not necessarily exclude suffering. We can experience joy in the midst of trials if we understand our suffering.

There are two possible explanations for suffering. It is either an alarm signaling that something is wrong or lacking or a sign of growth. The first requires a change for protection and safety. The second requires perseverance and vision. Both require support and encouragement. Recognizing our needs and gaining a perspective on suffering lead to growth and health when we take action.

Maladaptive behavior is the result of unsuccessfully trying to meet a need or trying to cope with one’s environment or situation. Sometimes we are unaware of our unmet needs and so our actions stem from an unconscious mandate or hidden negative beliefs or interpretations. Each person does the best they know how and no one seeks to be unhappy. We are all striving to become our best selves.
